Fashion Tech: when innovation meets fashion

The very essence of the word fashion implies that it responds to the social and geographical issues of the times. Could one possibly picture the fashion of tomorrow - an intelligent, responsible fashion -without technological innovation? The challenge of combining aesthetics with well-being, technology and sustainability is more relevant than ever. How to link fashion and technology, the designer and the engineer, how will fashion influence our ways of life and habits? In this seminar, we will attempt to offer an introduction to the fashion of the future.

Claire Eliot
Fascinated by what fashion says about our social behaviour, Claire Eliot enrolled at l’Ecole Duperré, where she became intrigued by the connections that fashion was establishing with new technologies. She went on to develop her technical skills at l’ENSCI, gaining a knowledge of electronics through Internet resources and learning from hackers. Currently a professor-researcher at the Centre de Recherche Interdisciplinaire (cri-paris.org) specialised in the integration of embedded systems in textiles, she will explain to us how she applies this research in the fields of fashion, sports and medicine.  www.claireeliot.com
