A Summer Showcase for Sotheby’s Belgium’s Half Century Celebrations

Sotheby's Belgium is looking for a designer or artist to curate & design a scenography for the gallery's showcase. The Belgian office is celebrating its 50th birthday on the market and on this occasion is willing to give a designer or creator the opportunity to develop the idea and project from A to Z. This open call gives the designer or creator the opportunity to showcase her / his / their work in the showcase of one of the worlds most prestigous auction house. 

The design will be exhibited for 2 months from end of June to end of August 2024 (exact dates to be fixed).

About the Showcase

The work will have to be integrated into the showcase which has the following dimensions: 6m length and 2m7 height with a free width.

Criteria: avoid signs of a sexual, political or religious nature. No artistic guidelines are imposed, except that there must be a link to the 50th anniversary celebration.

 

WHAT DOES THIS CALL FOR APPLICATIONS OFFER YOU?

Participation in the open call by submitting a cv / portfolio and moodboard. If you are selected after the first phase, you will be invited for the jury day to explain a visual presentation of your elaborated project. If your project wins, you will realize the work in consultation with Sotheby's. We'll work on a marketing campaign to promote the project through Sotheby's channels. 

This collaboration is remunerated. The amount will be communicated later.

 

PROCEDURE FOR THE CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

PHASE 1 :

The first phase of selection will be conducted based on your submitted cv, portfolio and  mood board. From all submissions, three candidates will be chosen who will advance to phase 2.

PHASE 2 :

— The 3 final chosen candidates from phase 1  will meet the jury via a face to face interview. 

— From the three candidates, 1 finalist will be chosen. 

 

 

TIMING

Start of the open call: Monday, February 5, 2024 (23:59)

Deadline for submitting your application: Monday, March 11, 2024 (23:59)

Announcement of the 3 selected candidates who will advance to phase 2: Monday, March 18, 2024

Presentation jury: Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 2pm to 4pm

Final Decision: Monday, April 8, 2024
