Bright pink, flowers and a touch of fluorescent. Carole Baijings' work is distinguished by a carefully balanced use of colours, patterns and graphic elements. With numerous international collaborations and several awards to her name, the Dutch designer is considered one of Europe's most exceptional, innovative and dynamic designers. 

On Friday February 14, MAD Brussels invites Carole Baijings for an inspiring lunch and talk. With its creative lunches, MAD aims to introduce innovative designers and professionals from the creative industry to a wide audience. Get inspired by Carole Baijings' story, experiences, career path and valuable tips during a cosy lunch.

This creative lunch is organised in collaboration with Design Museum Brussels and with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Belgium.

 

ABout Carole Baijings

Carole Baijings is the founder of Amsterdam-based design studio Carole Baijings Studio for DesignThe studio designs tableware, textiles, furniture and lighting, and produces objects ranging from textiles and glass to ceramics. Baijings describes the philosophy of her work as a ‘studio way of working’, handcrafting colours, materials and models to create new and unique forms. Colour is at the heart of Carole Baijings' design process. By experimenting with transparency, layering and grids, she gives dimensionality to her work. 

Baijings has worked in the past with numerous well-known design brands such as Hay, IKEA, Fatboy, Petite Friture and Pastoe. Furthermore, her work has been exhibited at the Victoria & Albert Museum (London), the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum (New York), the Art Institute of Chicago and at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

Women in Design 1900 - Today' through the eyes of Carole Baijings, on Saturday 15 February at 11:15. A unique customized visit where the choice of theme and approach is left to the speakers. Be inspired and guided by exceptional people who will help you see the exhibitions through a different lens. 

The expo is a journey through 120 years of design history that tells the multifaceted story of design in light of the struggle for equal rights and appreciation.
