Every starter’s trajectory starts with a collective introduction session with our expert in business development, Cathy Becq. Cathy will introduce you to the world of entrepreneurship and what it takes to succeed in starting up your business in fashion and design. 

After this presentation, Jasmien Wynants & Justin Lalieux will explain the basics of circular business models and closed loop productions.

MEET OUR EXPERTS!

Cathy Becq — business development expert

Cathy Becq has been mentoring and advising startups, entrepreneurs and small businesses in art, culture and creative sector for over 20 years. She's been an entrepreneur, a CFO, a board member.

Her multi-layered background has fed her original approach. She applies techniques from the entrepreneurship (Empathy Map, Value Proposition Design and Business Model Generation canvases,…), business, life coaching. Her approach is based on trends watching for the companies that she mentors, with the aim to enlarge their vision on strategic challenges. She is helping any business that wants to rethink its strategy and organization, by giving them the right business support in order to be better equipped to build a strong and sustainable future.

Jasmien Wynants — Expert Sustainable Fashion & Sustainability Manager at Xandres

Jasmien is active as a freelance sustainability expert in the fashion industry. With ‘Jasmien & The Masjien’ she works on all kinds of sustainability related projects. She recently launched a ‘Fashion & Sustainability’ guided tour for the fashion museum in Antwerp, she’s writing for Fashion United, working on a children’s book and she gives talks, workshops and advice. Previously, she developed the ‘Close The Loop’-programme’ at Flanders DC (former Flanders Fashion Institute) to guide fashion companies to a circular way of working. She has a background in Communication as well as a MA’s in Management & Environmental Sciences. 

Justin Lalieux — Industrial designer

Industrial Designer with 15 years of professional and academic experience. Justin is a product development expert, design enthusiast, prototype guru. He helped to develop & market hundreds of products, with a focus on knock-down furniture for major European brands. Justin wants to work exclusively on sustainable & impactful products.

 

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

Entrepreneurs from the fashion and design sector based in Brussels with an existing fashion or design brand or the idea of an entreprenarial project.

  • Next session will be held on Tuesday 11 June 2024.
  • The session begins at 9:30 and end arround 12:00, please be there on time! Doors close at 9.30am, no admissions will be accepted after this time.
