As part of its mission to promote Brussels design internationally, MAD Brussels and hub.brussels are launching a call for applications for collectible design and functional art designers based in Brussels.The objective? To connect Brussels-based designers with international galleries and showcase the capital’s creativity through an exclusive group exhibition held alongside PAD London and Frieze 2026!
From October 14 to 16, 2026, the Residence of the Belgian Ambassador to the United Kingdom will host a selection of collectible design pieces in a refined and intimate setting, celebrating the vibrancy of the Brussels scene. The event will open with a cocktail reception on October 14, 2026, for collectors, professionals, and institutional guests. The exhibition will continue over two days with private visits for collectors and partners, and will conclude with an intimate dinner bringing together the selected designers and invited gallerists.

WHAT DOES THIS CALL FOR APPLICATIONS OFFER?
Selected designers will benefit from:
Visibility within an international network of design and functional art professionals;
Preparatory support (e.g. pricing guidance);
Logistical and promotional support from the MAD Brussels & hub.brussels teams;
Coverage of exhibition-related costs (transport, insurance, etc.).
In light of the current economic and budgetary context, MAD Brussels and hub.brussels reserve the right to cancel the event in the case of force majeure.
WHO IS THIS CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR?
This call is open to designers or collectible design studios based in Brussels or holding a VAT number registered in the Brussels-Capital Region.
It targets creators whose practice is rooted in a contemporary, artistic, or experimental approach, exploring the boundaries between design and art while remaining functional. Eligible works may include:
Furniture;
Lighting (floor or freestanding);
Small decorative objects;
Textile design (rugs, tapestries, curtains);
Ceramics;
Tableware;
Sculptural design.
SELECTION CRITERIA
To be eligible, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be based in Brussels;
Demonstrate motivation for international exposure and gallery representation;
Propose a recent project (less than 3 years old);
Submit up to 3 pieces (only one will be selected if the application is successful);
Submit a project composed exclusively of existing works or fully finalized prototypes, ready and available for exhibition.
Particular attention will be given to projects that incorporate an innovative dimension in terms of techniques and/or materials.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
Please complete your application by this online form before Sunday, April 26 (11:59 PM) and include the following required documents:
A short biography/presentation of the designer or studio, written in the third person;
A portfolio representative of your universe, work, and creations (max. 10 pages);
A description of the proposed pieces for the exhibition (photos, dimensions, materials, year, indicative value).
