Kanal shop

Kanal-Centre Pompidou

Available until

Kanal-Centre Pompidou, in collaboration with hub.brussels and MAD Brussels, is launching a call for applications open to designers and craftspeople based in Brussels. The objective is to select creators whose products will enrich the offering of the Kanal shop.

Designed as a dynamic extension of the centre, the Kanal shop fully reflects the identity of the venue. Located at the heart of the building, it caters to a diverse audience (visitors, local residents, and curious passersby) and offers a constantly evolving selection, much like a creative space that is open and deeply rooted in the city.

More than just a retail space, the shop is intended as a place for discovery and showcasing, highlighting craftsmanship and contemporary perspectives while fostering connections between the public and meaningful objects. In this context, Kanal is seeking design objects, as well as fashion pieces and accessories, that stand out through a distinctive and creative approach, a commitment to production methods, a thoughtful perspective on use and materials, and the ability to tell a story and create a connection with audiences.

WHAT DOES THIS CALL FOR APPLICATIONS OFFER?

  • Visibility in a major cultural venue in Brussels;
  • A professional platform to showcase and sell your creations on consignment;
  • Access to a diverse and international audience;

  • Be a craftsperson or designer based in Brussels;
  • Prioritise the use of circular, locally sourced and/or non-toxic raw materials as part of a continuous improvement approach. Applicants are encouraged to move towards these practices, without requiring all materials to immediately meet all criteria;
  • Ensure that product pricing allows for economic viability for both the creator and the shop, taking into account production costs, the creator’s margin, and the commission applied by Kanal ;
  • Offer design products, fashion, or accessories (non-food items only).

  • Providing high-quality products consistent with the visuals and descriptions submitted in the application;

  • Meeting delivery timelines agreed with the shop team;
  • Providing all necessary information for product presentation and sales (description, materials, origin, production process, etc.);

Kanal commits to:

  • Offering visibility within the Kanal shop for a period of 4 months, renewable;
  • Supporting the development of your products by encouraging practices aligned with a local and circular economy;
