Win for Life & MAD Brussels invite you to imagine an exclusive limited-edition series of fashion accessories at the intersection of fashion, creativity, and responsible design. Through this open call, we are looking for a designer capable of creating a unisex fashion accessory for festival-goers: an object that isdistinctive, desirable, and meaningful.
As part of their commitment to supporting creative development and sustainable practices, the National Lottery and Win for Life are launching an open call for designers based in Belgium to conceive and produce a limited-edition series of 25 exclusive fashion accessories. The selected proposal must incorporate materials sourced from Win for Life's past activities and events - such as festival wristbands, T-shirts, banners, and other promotional materials- through an upcycling approach that gives new value to existing resources.
Intended to be offered as prizes through competitions or gifted to selected guests, these pieces should reflect the spirit of Win for Life while embodying a creative, contemporary, and sustainable vision.
WHAT DOES THIS OPEN CALL OFFER?
The selected designer will benefit from:
An opportunity to develop an original creative project centred around an exclusive fashion accessory designedfor the festival scene;
Artistic and logistical support from the Win for Life team;
Visibility through partner communications and related events;
A creative fee of €5,000 to cover the design phase, as well as a production budget of €100 per item (€2,500 in total) to cover manufacturing costs;
A compensation fee of €750 for each of the two shortlisted finalists not selected at the end of Phase 2, in recognition of the time and work invested in developing their proposal.
WHO CAN APPLY?
This open call is open to designers who:
Are based in Belgium and carry out a significant part of their professional activity there;
Work in fashion, accessory design, product design, or related creative disciplines;
Demonstrate a strong interest in sustainability, eco-design, material reuse, and responsible creation;
Wish to develop a project with strong creative and aesthetic value.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Applications will be assessed based on:
A strong vision for sustainable design, upcycling, and the creative reuse of existing resources;
The ability to develop a unisex fashion accessory that is desirable, innovative, and suited to the festival context;
A creative and relevant approach to integrating the materials provided by Win for Life (festival wristbands, textiles, banners, promotional materials, etc.);
A proposal that aligns with the values and identity of Win for Life;
Particular attention to materials, production processes, and environmental impact;
The ability to produce a series of 25 pieces within the required timeframe.
SELECTION PROCESS
Phase 1 – Application Review
Please submit your application by Sunday, 16 August 2026 (11:59 PM)via this form, together with the followingdocuments:
A portfolio showcasing your creative practice (PDF, maximum 10 pages);
A mood board presenting your approach to the project and your vision for the proposed accessory.
A jury composed of representatives from MAD Brussels and Win for Life will review all applications and select three candidates whose profiles best meet the criteria of the call to proceed to Phase 2.
Phase 2 – Project Proposal Presentation
The three shortlisted candidates will be invited to present a detailed visual proposal for the project, together withthe associated budget, to the jury on 7 October 2026 at MAD Brussels (exact time to be confirmed).
One finalist will be selected to develop and produce the project. The two remaining candidates will each receive a compensation fee of €750 (VAT included) in recognition of the time and work invested in preparing their proposal.
